The must-see attraction of any Almeria tour is Alcazaba, with its long walls of more than half a kilometre retracing the varied topography. Inside the walls, there are military and civilian buildings, a mosque and baths. From Alcazaba, one can enjoy a full view over the city. The coast of Almeria has provided accommodation for Phoenician, Iberian, Roman and Arab civilisations, so its cultural heritage is very diverse and includes even rock art in the Los Vélez cave.

Although traditional reconstructions of battles between Christians and Muslims, called Moros y Cristianos, are organised in many Spanish cities, the medieval-inspired costumes and careful preparation of the feast are particularly impressive in Mojácar.
