Spanish in Andalusia is more than just learning. It's leisure!

Granada

You surely won't be bored here in your free time: the sea, the mountains, the unique architecture of Alhambra, and the world-famous tapas bars won't leave you time for this. As a university city, Granada is also full of cultural attractions at affordable prices all year round.

The Alhambra de Granada palace complex is one of the most important monuments in Spain. The richness of Arabic ornaments together with the renaissance Palace of Charles V and the gardens of the Generalife summer residence make an extraordinary visual impression and at the same time allow a better understanding of the Andalusian cultural mix. The narrow and winding uphill streets of the historic districts of Albaicín and Sacromonte are also a sightseeing must.

Thanks to its geographical location, the Granada province enables you to enjoy both water sports on Costa Tropical and skiing on the slopes of Sierra Nevada. When the snow is gone from the peaks, the hiking and cycling season begins.

Spanish through culture

Granada means “pomegranate” in Spanish and although it is a coincidence, the pomegranate has become a symbol of the province and a classic motif of local ceramics. The gypsy-influenced folk tradition of Granada is immortalised in the poetry and dramas of Federico García Lorca, whose house is now open to tourists as a museum. Another emblematic expression of this culture is flamenco. For an extraordinarily atmospheric dance and singing show, you can go to one of the bars arranged in the residential caves carved in the slopes of Sacromonte.

Spanish through nature

Thanks to its diverse vegetation, the Sierra Nevada mountain range has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. The landscape is impressive both when the peaks are covered with snow and in the summer. Small towns with their whitewashed houses shining from afar, known as pueblos blancos, attract tourists to Las Alpujarras.

Spanish through cuisine

Granada specializes in tapas bars. The snacks served there to accompany each drink have taken on the size of really solid portions. As the competition is huge, prices are very affordable and the menu is varied. The province is also famous for Iberian ham from Trevélez and for growing tropical fruit.
